Date Her, Dupe Her, Dump Her; The Complete Bastards Guide To Online Dating
Author: Marcus Bliss
Reviewer: Ben McKnight
Reviewers rating: 6/10 User rating: n/a
Synopsis: Men are as bad as women for complaining about their lack of a love life. The common factor? They're the good guys. All the good guys get is a front row ticket to watching the bad guys get the pretty girl. While it's true that nice guys finish last in the end, why wait that long when you can win now? Marcus Bliss' logic is flawless. Reviewers comments: I didn't know what to expect from this book when I first saw it. My impressions from the cover left me concerned about the contents and motives of the author. The title 'Date Her, Dupe Her, Dump Her' immediately strikes up negative connotations in my mind. Despite being aware of the reputation the 'Complete Bastards Guide To...' series of books have earned themselves, I proceeded to read with an open mind. The foreword by "Papa Bastard" was intriguing to say the least. It boasts and glorifies the persona and characteristic of "Bastardom" as Marcus Bliss calls it. Immediately from the point where Bliss, A.K.A. Papa Bastard, says: 'some bastard is taking the easy route, doing what you want but a whole lot better and quicker', the character Charlie Sheen plays in the popular comedy "Two and a Half Men" formed in my mind and didn't leave me for the rest of the book. The character is known as someone who does little to no work and is living a life of luxury - also known to Bliss as a 'Complete Bastard'. However, like 'Charlie Harper', there is something comically charming about his personality and choice of words. When reading the main bulk of the book it becomes apparent that the term 'Complete Bastard' is neither a parody nor met with negativity. It is suggesting and highlighting the fact that to succeed in many aspects of life, even online dating, you must be a 'Complete Bastard'. There are 'guidelines' that are put in place early on in the book that should be followed whilst using online dating and Bliss seems to have his head screwed on somewhat. He states that using vulgar language and being rude to the people you meet online is a big no amongst other things you can imagine some internet weirdo doing. This brings me on to Bliss' knowledge about the internet and online dating. The book warns readers of the 'internet weirdo' and how there are some cases of stalking behaviour, where he gives tips on how to resolve the issues. He clearly knows his way around various dating sites as he gives overviews and examples of things you can do and security options available to users of the ever popular online medium. 'Date Her, Dupe Her, Dump Her' sees the reader through the first steps of online dating and carries on giving lots of advice and strategies for the initial and, if all goes to plan, second and third dates. Continuing to help the reader to the stages of getting a girl to fall in love means it certainly empathises with a lot of men - it's made clear that not all men go to bars to find a girl they like and "swoop in" so to speak. Instead, it offers advice on how to act confident and, if they are comfortable in doing so, potentially asking a girl out. It doesn't waste the reader's time with big fruity language, but gets straight on to 'winning tactics'. You're getting what you've paid for. Who Should Read It: Any man unlucky in love or fed up of losing women or never getting any kind of contact with them. The book offers a lot of self help and winning strategies. Be warned: this publication is very much for men only, unless you're a raging feminist who needs ammunition for the 'men are bastards' argument. If the advice does help you get a girlfriend, make sure she doesn't see it. Add review:
