Picking up the book, it's very aesthetically pleasing. It's simplistic, yet eye catching and very feminine. I was particularly taken with the boudoir style of the layout. It's very classy and makes you feel that way too!

It is also comforting to know, as you will discover when reading the text, that Steve Harvey seems to be addressing his female audience out of genuine compassion, concern and care. Harvey has hit the sensitive side perfectly here; women everywhere will be falling into the loving pages of this book and refusing to ever come out. Really, he's that charming. Furthermore, as a popular comedian and radio show host, you expect the book to be a funny and enjoyable read.  You won't be disappointed. A number of you may be concerned that because he's no expert in this field of dating and relationships (as so many authors claim to be), that perhaps there's better advice out there, but I solemnly promise you that this advice is as good as any I've ever read and has the added bonus of being humorous and simplistic.

The advice that is offered is straightforward and practical. It establishes gender differences and explains specific behaviour very early on and thus sets you up with an understanding of what's to come. This makes the rest of the book an easy read because it all links together nicely and makes a lot of sense. Nearly every chapter comes back to the same point - that man has an ego that needs taking care of - meaning the book has a focus which makes everything much easier to follow and understand.

Can this book get any better? Well, yes it can! Lots of important issues are covered that many books take for granted. Steve Harvey holds no punches however and delivers interesting views on 'mama's boys', cheating husbands and when to give up 'the cookie' with potential new partners. This is all nestled within personal stories and firsthand experience, which really makes the whole thing more reliable and interesting to read. What's more, Harvey has a family himself - he's clearly besotted with his wife, but has also been through a divorce. This man is very down to Earth and real. Clearly he's doing something right.

As with all books on the subjective subject of love and dating, this book has some flaws. It's a little chauvinistic, the author has some preoccupation with God as a necessity in life to provide you with moral values and structurally, the book is not particularly well put together. There are lots of hyphens, pages of unbroken text and it takes a little while to sort all this in your mind so that you can read it and understand what is going on. This is pretty much the downfall of the book, because really, everything else is top notch!

Overall, this is something I would definitely recommend investing your time and energy in to. By reading between the lines and retaining you sense of individuality, not only can you become a modern woman in your career and your family life, but you'll be unstoppable in the dating world as well. Who Should Buy It:
For certain, any member of the black community who might be looking for love or advice on where to find it. The book is clearly very racially orientated, but that doesn't mean it won't be useful for women from all kinds of backgrounds. If you're able to read between the lines a little, take some things with a pinch of salt and not assume that just because you're not religious you have no values, then this book will help you a lot.

Alternatively, if you're unable to do this, then the only women I would recommend this to are those with no self respect and who believe that men are the worthier sex and should dictate how they live. If you take the book as law, this is certainly how you'll be feeling by the end of it.
